NIGHTWISH Confirmed For PROGPOWER USA Festival
March 12, 2003Finland's NIGHTWISH have been confirmed as the headliners of the fourth annual Progpower USA festival on Friday, Sept. 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. A one-off club show in Montreal, Quebec will take place immediately following the group's Progpower appearance. As previously reported, NIGHTWISH's upcoming DVD, "End Of Innocence", is due in June through Spinefarm. The DVD will consist of 12-14 tracks of music, including promo videos and a bunch of live tracks, recorded by the band and crew. The band have also spent countless hours viewing tons of behind-the-scenes material they've filmed with their handycams during their recent tours. The DVD should contain about "an hour's worth of backstage antics, snoring and assorted glimpses into the fast and furious 'rock 'n' roll lifestyle' the
band leads while on the road," according to an official press release. "Just don't expect any devious behavior. It's not a VH1 special."
NIGHTWISH won two EMMA awards (Finnish Grammys) at this past weekend's ceremony. The band were voted "Best Finnish Band" by the Finnish music fans and were awarded an "Export EMMA", which is handed out to Finnish artists who have achieved the greatest level of success outside their home country. NIGHTWISH are set to enter the studio in November/December to record the follow-up to last year's "Century Child" CD, due before the summer of 2004.
In related news, congratulations are in order for NIGHTWISH drummer Jukka Nevalainen, who became the proud father of a baby girl, named Luna, yesterday (March 11) at 5:20 a.m.
